Oregon Tech (Oregon Institute of Technology) is seeking applicants for the role of Counselor within the Integrated Student Health Center, on the Klamath Falls campus. Located in beautiful south-central Oregon, Klamath Falls is a city of close to 22,000 residents (45,000 in urban growth area), approximately 20 miles north of the California border. Known as Oregon’s “City of Sunshine”, Klamath Falls enjoys about 300 days of blue skies each year.

Position Description: 

This 10-month, unclassified position is responsible for providing personal counseling services to students via individual and group formats utilizing a variety of counseling approaches. The Counselor also engages in assessment related to intake completion, the development of effective treatment plans, assigning DSM diagnoses and making appropriate referrals.

Our Center is an integrated facility, meaning that the Counselor has the opportunity to work with medical and psychiatric support to provide wrap-around services for our students. Support staff facilitate the clinic scheduling, and due to our funding structure we do not bill insurance, so there is no minimum quota of clients to maintain. We regularly engage in mental health outreach, so there is an opportunity to interact with students outside of the Counselor role.

Clinical supervision to facilitate completion of the Oregon Licensed Professional Counselor process can be obtained on site at no cost. Departmental Information:

The mission of the Oregon Tech Integrated Student Health Center is to support students by providing tools which encourage them to be knowledgeable about and actively invested in the benefits of self-care and choosing well to maintain their physical and emotional wellness. Our Mental Health Statement of Purpose is to positively impact student mental health functioning by reducing distress and increasing students’ abilities to manage their own emotional, cognitive, and behavioral issues as they arise.

Qualification Requirements:

• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, or closely related mental health field required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in counseling or mental health setting required (but can include time spent during internship/practicum).
• License-eligible as professional counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist.
• Experience facilitating individual counseling with clients is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Licensed as a professional counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist
• Experience working with the college population or young adults
• Experience working with neurodivergent populations (such as clients on the Autism Spectrum)
• Experience working with diverse clients (including but not limited to women, transgender, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community)
