Logging Administration and Silviculture Forester

Position:
Lone Rock Resources is seeking a Forester with a focus either on Logging Administration or Silviculture to work on our 35,000 acre Southern Division Tree Farm in Jackson County, Oregon. The successful candidate will join a team of hardworking, talented, and dedicated individuals who thrive in performing exceptional work in a productive environment. The successful candidate will be based out of our Central Point, OR field office.
Primary Job Duties (Logging Administration):
- Harvest unit and road construction analysis and layout
- Logging contract preparation and administration
- Assistance with district silvicultural activities
Primary Job Duties (Silviculture):
- Performance and administration of all silvicultural activities including planting, herbicide application, pre-commercial thinning, animal damage control, fertilization, and young plantation exams
- Assistance with district logging administration activities
Primary Job Duties (both positions)
- Communication and relationship building with neighbors and government agencies
- Prescribed burning and wildland firefighting
- Budgeting
Required Qualifications:
- Committed to live in Jackson County
- The ability to work both independently and to work well with others
- Working knowledge of logging systems and equipment capabilities or working knowledge of silvicultural systems
- Basic knowledge of the Oregon Forest Practices Act
- Ability to travel to job locations over a large area
- Valid driver’s license and good driving history
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of field experience in a forestry related field
- Associates or higher degree in forestry or related field
- Working knowledge of GIS and Microsoft Excel and Word
